This is the best video I’ve seen so far on the conflict between Catalonia and Spain, and it’s in english! Perfectly summarized.

It must be hard for Spanish people not to dislike the Catalans, given the amount of crap they are fed by the Spanish media and government. It is easy for outsiders to say that they themselves wouldn’t have these prejudices if they were born in Spain but it is not so easy when you have been lied to all your life. It is good to see that some of the Spanish people in the film are indeed able to see the bigger picture. Unfortunately, some of them, like the Spanish female presenter are just lost causes.

Thanks for your comment Jim. I could understand that the great mass of people could be more easily be manipulated but it is worrying that the more informed Spanish intellectuals who for instance feel sympathetic to other statless nations like Palestine, Tibet, Western Sahara, etc which have a very different siutation from Catalonia, true. Those people would never question that Scotland is a country, either. However, they cannot admit simple things like Catalonia being a country or even out of coherence with their wanting Catalonia to stay in Spain defend Catalan culture as a Spanish culture, be proud of it as much as they are of Castillian and support that it should have the same status as Castillian.
